writing in Hungarian

Dear readers,
first of all, I'm sorry about being a rare poster.
-
Now, onto business.

As some of you might remember, my WIP is about a person who finds pleasure in computer games. Guess what. I find much, too.
Now, I'm in a multiplayer online game (those are the worst, believe me) and it takes quite a time from me. Sometimes I find it hard to accomplish my normal duties.
The server I'm on will finish somewhere between late December to mid February, depending on the state of the war we're fighting.
Does it sound ridiculous?
Or is it a shame?
Chances are, both.
One might think this 6 months I've been playing this game so far is a waste of time. I'm not sure.
I keep telling myself I've made some friends, I've learned some more about human nature, and most of all, I've learned a lot about myself.
I also keep telling myself that this experience will help me write my WIP with a better grip on the subject, that is, being addicted to a game.
I hope this won't turn a lie.
I hope I do write this thing of mine.
-
The funny thing is that some of the playersI'm playing with have started writing a series of short stories that revolve against the topic of the game.
They started writing a story set in a medieval aura.
Guess what.
Did I join by adding a story to the flow of stories written by fellow players?
Bingo.
-
And I loved it.
-
LOVED, LOVED, ABSOLUTELY LOVED WRITING IT.
-
I incorporated some of my fellow virtual friends into my story. Those who read it, liked it.
That was all for today.

Sounds like you were emotionally involved with the writing and that really can fire you up and make things fun. some games have inspired long series of books and collected antholgoies as well.

You play the game because it has taken all of your attention because it fascinates. Those adventures can be a wonderful inspiration for a writer.

Charles and Barbara,
thank you for your insight.

I do enjoy the game, no doubt about that :)
It does give me inspiration, although it's not exactly the type my hero plays.

I do get experience I hope I can use in writing. I'm watching myself being absorbed by an addictive substance (the game) at the same time I'll be happy when the server ends and so does the game.
I learn a lot about people while observing my fellow players, too.

But most of all, I did enjoy writing as a form of expression. I felt so perhaps I have not written much lately...

Thanks again!

This is similar to fan fiction in that there is already something you are attached to which you are writing about. You can use a lot of that to create a world or character in another story.

I used to write Harry Potter fan fiction, myself.

You're a rare poster? May one buy you at a rare poster chop? (Couldn't resist the awful pun.) :)

WW,

That is a good insight. You can surely write enthusiastically about a thing are feel attached to. Thanks for visiting this abandoned site, anyway!

Billy,

I am a lazy, non-existent writer these weeks. I write nothing, but wish to return to it as soon as possible, but do nothing ot achieve this short-term plan of mine. Blah.
I seek explanations for not-writing, and I find them anyway.
